SINGLE REVIEW: Fleur East – Sax
THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING. Excuse the caps lock, I’m just really excited about this track. Fleur East was the runner up in the 2014 series of The X Factor UK and she’s ready to snatch wigs left, right and centre with this infectious tune. “Sax’ is an upbeat banger that will have you embracing the return of the over used horns and saxophone. When I read the name of this track my eyes immediately rolled to the back of my head because as you can imagine I am totally over the horn faze. But I was pleasantly surprised when I heard it and discovered it was actually a cool track. The structure is very similar to “Uptown Funk” and plays on the bridge being stronger than the minimalistic hook while the instrumental after each hook will have you dancing away. “Baby baby I’ve been waitin’ for the one to blow my mind, baby maybe you can get it if you got that thang I like”. While this is a fun tongue ‘n’ cheek style track she hasn’t allowed it affect her vocal delivery giving you high notes that prove that the girl can SING. I’m loving this track and with each listen I become more and more obsessed. This is the perfect summer anthem and I personally cannot wait to play this on my beach trips.
