SINGLE REVIEW: Adele – Hello

OKAY IT’S ABOUT TIME. ADELE IS BACK. LIKE SERIOUSLY. OMG. Okay, I can probably stop writing in caps lock now, but can you sense my excitement? It’s been four long years since Adele blessed the world with her groundbreaking album “21” and ever since we’ve been patiently waiting for the next installment. Her third studio album “25” will be unleashed on November 20 and will undoubtedly see her breaking records again. The first single “Hello” has her reintroducing herself to the world with this haunting ballad. “Hello from the other side, I must’ve called a thousand time to tell you I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done, but when I call you never seem to be home”. This song has her calling an ex-lover after years of separation to try apologize for the past but he never seems to answer the phone. It’s a beautiful power ballad that explores the mistakes we make and the reflection of it all. Her vocals are stunning as always with her vivid imagery coming to life with an emotional delivery. She has already stated that this album is not a breakup record unlike “21” and sees her reflecting on the past few years and this lead single perfectly captures that approach. With each listen it grows on you and while it may not be as emotionally captivating as “Rolling In The Deep” or “Someone Like You” it will still have you engrossed and hooked.

Beyonce and Rihanna are tipped to release albums by the end of the year, so it’s going to be interesting to see who will take out the top spot. Let the Hunger Games begin…
