Last year Gwen Stefani attempted her comeback but was met with a lackluster response. 2015 has seen her play shows with No Doubt, return as a judge on The Voice and see her split with husband of 13 years Gavin Rossdale. On top of all this she has been in and out of the studio working on her highly anticipated third studio album. Over the weekend at an exclusive New York show she debuted the lead single for her new album and this emotionally raw track will have you falling in love with the songstress all over again. “Used To Love You” is an intimate pop track that looks at her split from her ex husband and accepting that it’s over. Lyrically penned by Stefani, Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels and produced by J.R Rotem she offers an honest look into her feelings post relationship. “I don’t know why I cry but I think it’s cause I remembered for the first time since I hated you that I used to love you”. Listening to her belt out these lyrics is very heartbreaking and you can hear the pain in her vocals in the soaring high notes. The hook is ridiculously catchy and will have it stuck in your head after a first listen. This song is a massive step up from her two mediocre promo singles last year and will have you very excited about her return. This is one of my favourite songs of right now and it’s already on continuous repeat.
