SINGLE REVIEW: Little Mix – Hair
One of the most exciting things Little Mix has done recently was perform a cover of Rupaul’s song “Sissy That Walk” at London’s G-A-Y club. The UK girl group are currently preparing for the release of their third studio album “Get Weird” and while their lead single “Black Magic” sounded a bit too similar to Jason Derulo’s “Want To Want Me” it’s still managed to make a decent indent on the chart. The album isn’t scheduled for release until November so in the meanwhile the girls have released a promotional single to keep you excited. “Hair” is the ultimate girl group track. Its camp, quirky and every bit gimmicky. Every time I listen to this track it grows on me and I fall more in love with the sassiness and girl empowerment the lyrics possess. “Cause he was just a dick and I knew it, got me going mad sitting in this chair like I don’t care, gotta get him out my hair. I tried everything but it’s useless, he pushed me so far now I’m on the edge, make him disappear, go get him out my hair”. It’s almost the perfect break up and fuck you song for member Perrie Edwards who has recently publically called off her engagement to Zayn Malik. It’s a song you can’t take too seriously and with its big band RNB influence it’s trying quite hard to fit in with what’s trending right now. I’m gonna go lip synch to this song in my bathroom mirror now….
