SINGLE REVIEW: Delta Goodrem – Wings

Recently Delta’s music has been a bit on the safe side and with no real heavy impact on the charts it’s no surprise that it’s taken her a while to release more music. But all of that is about to change. Serving as the lead single from her fifth studio album, “Wings” sees Goodrem delivering an upbeat, EDM influenced pop banger while still remaining to her roots with a strong piano accompaniment. The chorus ignites a pure euphoric moment with a catchy hook that still delivers a powerful message. “What if I lose my self control? What if I choose to let it go? I want to let you and me collide, baby these wings were made to fly”. Her songwriting has always been one of her strongest attributes and she doesn’t allow that to suffer even though she is taking an EDM approach musically. The bridge stands out lyrically as one of the most impactful moments. “Everybody’s looking for a new horizon, everybody wants to leave the world behind them”, “Everybody’s looking for a second chance, everybody’s wishing they could take a stand”. I’m just going to put it out there and say that this so far one of the best pop songs released in 2015. It’s catchy, empowering, fun and still delivers a flawless vocal delivery from Goodrem. Just a warning before listening; you will find yourself wanting to run around and dance to this tune like no tomorrow.
