Breaking away from Hollywood Records Selena Gomez has signed with Interscope Records to release her forthcoming second solo studio album and the raunchy sound she’s bringing you almost has her unrecognizable. With dark synths and RNB beats “Good For You” is a brand new sound for the pop diva and will pleasantly shock long term fans. With a grittier and more honest approach she’s dropped the over the top theatrics and giving you raw emotion, vocals and tantalizing beats that will quickly have you entranced. The steamy lyrics are about how she was trying to impress one of her lovers with her airy vocals giving this song an emotional attachment. “I just wanna look good for you, good for you, uh-huh. Let me show you how proud I am to be yours, leave this dress a mess on the floor and still look good for you, good for you, uh-huh”. The song also features a PG rap from A$AP Rocky which is one of Selena’s strongest and most influential collaborations yet. With this song she has gone for a more targeted approach opening her music up to a wider audience than the limited fan base that enjoyed her bubblegum greatness. This sound suits her incredibly well and after a few listens you will be hooked and wanting to hear it again and again. Her last few singles have been major snooze-fests so “Good For You” has reinstalled my faith in Selena to deliver the goods and I really hope the new album lives up to the expectations.
