SINGLE REVIEW: Years & Years – Shine

Shine

PREPARE YOURSELF. Literally. Years & Years are quickly blowing up and their debut album “Communion” will be one of the most raved about albums of the year. They’ve just unleashed their next single and it’s a massive bop. Infecting you with synth-pop greatness “Shine” is an 80’s influenced indie-pop track that is emotionally charged and ready to win you over. Lead vocalist Olly Alexander captivates you from the opening line; “I remember us alone” and then takes you on a journey in the hook with “Don’t leave me behind, can you see me, I’m shining and it’s you that I’ve been waiting to find”. It’s not as instantly catchy as previous single “King” but it’s a grower and one that people will connect to and fall in love with lyrically. The production is also flawless and will have you vibing from start to finish. If you still haven’t discovered Years & Years then it’s about time you do.
