LIVE REVIEW: Ciara – Arc Nightlife
Ciara’s tour of Australia and New Zealand has been surrounded with controversy about short sets, cancelled appearances and no meet n greets. The Brisbane show started off with some major hiccups. The show was held at Brisbane’s newest RNB club Arc Nightlife and they didn’t impress with their unprofessional, rude and unorganized staff and work ethic. The organization inside the venue was chaotic with the main room closed until 9:45pm and no line or safe/calm way of getting people through into that room. Ciara was scheduled to perform at 10pm and with the impatient crowd becoming restless she didn’t hit the stage until 11:56. But Ciara is a professional and as soon as she hit that stage she brought her A-Game and there was no stopping her. Her 20 minute performance saw her power through some of her biggest hits. Opening with “Lose Control” she quickly went into the song that started it all, “Goodies’. She was joined on stage by Lil Jon who actually wrote that track for her and they gave an unforgettable and special performance. Fan favourites “Im Out”, “Ride” and “Get Up” had the crowd jumping while the hits “Oh”, Like A Boy” and “1,2 Step” created some epic sing-along moments. She showcased her strong raw vocal ability with some slick acapella moments that had the audience in awe. Her energetic stage presence made the long wait worth it but the venue had promised a 90 min “hosting appearance” and a 13 track performance but neither of those two things happened. Ciara vowed to be back in Australia soon for her world tour so I hope by then she has a new booking agent and the shows allow her to get raving reviews like she deserves.
