Zedd and Selena Gomez usually provide the tunes and know how to get songs stuck in your head but with the release of their highly anticipated collaboration “I Want You To Know” the feedback isn’t so positive. This should’ve been the hottest song of the summer and absolutely slayed with a killer hook and flawless production but with lack of creativity and originality it heavily disappoints. The beat is old, recycled and boring. It sounds like every dance track playing in clubs at the moment and the generic sound is unimpressive. Vocally Selena Gomez gives us an auto-tuned performance with a repetitive hook and does nothing impressive to stand out. Lyrically it’s a cute song with a few quotable lyrics that are bound to be blasted over Instagram; “I’m better under your reflection”/ “I want you to know that it’s our time. You and me bleed the same light”. But with Ryan Tedder as a co-writer I didn’t expect anything less. The song is nothing special, it will be a club favourite because it fits in with everything popular at the moment but chart wise you can probably expect this one to flop.
