If you’ve been into a shopping mall over the past couple of weeks you will already be well aware that it’s nearly Christmas with the over the top decorations and unwanted Christmas carols blasting through the speakers. If you’re like me you’re probably not ready to get into the Christmas spirit just yet, after all it’s only early November. But it’s time to get a bit excited with the release of the Band Aid 30 Ebola charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas”. With a star studded line up including; Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Ellie Goulding, Seal, Sam Smith, Sinead O’Connor, Rita Ora, Emeli Sande, Chris Martin, Paloma Faith, Bono, Seal, Roger Taylor, Jessie Ware, Olly Murs and Bastille singer Dan Smith, it’s hard not to fall in love with this track. Bob Geldof has done an incredible job compiling these artists and getting them all in the same studio to record it. The most impressive yet surprising vocals comes from Rita Ora who absolutely blows everyone away with her high note. With the high volume of artists included in this project many of these vocally talented individuals didn’t get time to shine with very few standing out. Saying that Ed Sheeran gives chills while Ellie Goulding and Bono are recognizable straight away with their killer vocals. Some of the lyrics have been reworked to fit promote the Ebola awareness like “Where a kiss of love can kill you and there is death in every tear”. There has been strong negative media attention surrounding it but that hasn’t stopped it becoming the highest selling single of 2014. Prepare to be amazed by watching the video below and discover who sings what line.
