SINGLE REVIEW: Selena Gomez – The Heart Wants What It Wants
Releasing a greatest hits album without many actual certified hits is an interesting concept but that’s not stopping Selena Gomez from doing it. “For You” is set to be released on 24 November and to promote it she’s just unveiled an emotionally charged new single. “The Heart Wants What It Wants” is a vulnerable pop song that addresses her rocky relationship with Justin Bieber. The music video for the song got everyone talking with a strategically placed candid recording of Selena crying about her love as an intro. The song is average at best but grows on the listener with its eerily catchy hook. Production wise this is not Rock Mafia’s best work and could have done with a major facelift and stronger synths. Lyrically this is one of Selena’s most honest song with lyrics like “There’s a million reasons why I should give you up but the heart wants what it wants” haunting her vocal delivery. “The Heart Want What It Wants” is not the hit she was hoping for but it’s not a terrible song, it’s just averagely great.
