SINGLE REVIEW: Marlisa – Stand By You

After an interesting season of The X Factor Australia fifteen year old Marlisa was quite surprisingly crowned the winner of the Reality TV Show juggernaut. With front runner Dean Ray coming second the out poor on social media toward Marlissa was quite shockingly negative. Neitherless she won the show with week after week of impressive performances showing her versatility and maturity. Her winners single “Stand By You” which was written by Hayley Warner, Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci stands bold as a commercially viable pop ballad with strong lyrics. I do question if she understands the lyrics when reading them from a mature perspective but either way she delivers them with confidence and drive. ‘If black is your brightest colour, if hurt is your only lover, when you fight we fight together. I’ll stand by, I will stand by you”. Vocally I cannot fault her vocal delivery and can only commend her incredible vocal range for her young age. This catchy song will do quite well on the charts and will open many doors for Marlisa but what her and her team need to focus on now is the next move. She needs to define herself as an artist and believe everything she sings because when you start young in the industry you can get damaged easily.

“Stand By You” is available now on ITunes and her debut self titled album will be released on November 7 and is available for pre-order now.
