One Direction Live Review
One Direction are among some of the biggest acts in the music industry at the moment with hoards of screaming fans everywhere. Their recent promotional tour of Australia sold out in three minutes leavings thousands of fans without tickets. But for the lucky ones who had a ticket (like this reviewer) the night was something they would never forget. Opening with ‘Na Na Na’ the piercing screams welcomed Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn on stage for a seventy minute show which showcased songs from their debut album ‘Up All Night’. The show was structured into three sections; Summer, Autumn and Winter with different theming for each section. During the Summer section the boys had a ‘beach party’ where they sat around a fire and each performed a solo cover while Niall played acoustic guitar. This was a highlight of the set because it allowed each member to have their own stage time and interact with the crowd while showcasing their vocal strengths and Niall’s ability to play guitar. Zayn had a DJ segment in the show titled DJ Malik where he got everyone dancing while playing some of the biggest songs on the charts at the moment. The winter section of the show featured the groups new single ‘One Thing’ which had fake snow fall from the roof during the performance which was really fitting. Performance highlights included ‘I Wish’, ‘Moments’, ‘Up All Night’, ‘Use Somebody’, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and ‘I Want’. The production value of the show wasn’t huge or had massive budget as this was only a promotional show but it still had 3 big screens which had visuals throughout the show and some stairs. It would’ve been better to have seen Niall play the guitar for a bit longer than one medley and the show running for a bit longer but that didn’t matter to the fans as they all left with a big smile on their face.
